Other than a star, arguably the most valuable thing in the NBA is an expiring contract. New addition Corey Maggette is one of four Pistons who has an expiring deal, but he's not treating this stop like he's playing for his sixth team overall and fourth in as many years. Maggette, who escaped the worst team in NBA history to become one of six new Pistons since last season ended, called it "a new chapter." "I wasn't surprised at the trade," he said during his introductory news conference Tuesday, days after he was acquired from the Bobcats for Ben Gordon. "Once you get toward the end of your career, the last year of your contract, things will happen. But I was excited about it. I have an opportunity to excel more if I want to play."
