Paul Pierce clearly thinks the Nets have the upper-hand in New York. In running through the list of contenders in the Eastern Conference during Thursday's introductory press conference for himself, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry, Pierce conspicuously left the Knicks out of a list of contenders to challenge the defending champion Heat in the East. "I think we’re going to be right up there with the best of them," Pierce said when asked where the Nets stack up in the East. "Right now, you have to talk about Miami, obviously. They’re the champs. And you look at what Chicago and Indiana and then I think you really have to take a close look at what we’ve been able to put together. "When you put this type of talent on the floor, in order for it to come together, for us to be one of those top teams, that’s what has to happen. Me, Kevin and Jet, along with Jason, we don’t have any egos. We want to be one of those teams. We feel like with the talent we’ve got, we’re definitely going to compete in the Eastern Conference, and hopefully a championship."
