Days before the start of spring practice, the vision of Nebraska's news offensive coordinator Mark Whipple is coming into focus with the commitment Tuesday night of quarterback William Watson III. Watson, a 6-foot, 180-pound dual-threat in the Class of 2023, announced the Huskers as his choice at halftime of a basketball game at his school, Springfield (Mass.) Central.

Watson is ranked No. 602 overall and the No. 35 quarterback in the class in the 247Sports Composite.

He has won a pair of football state championships, including a title in the state’s largest class in December at Gillette Stadium. Watson completed 13-of-14 attempts for 187 yards and accounted for two touchdowns in the 22-15 victory against Central Catholic of Lawrence, Mass.
