NBA trade rumors will soon start picking up steam now that what promises to be an event-filled offseason is on the horizon. Some teams will look to move off expensive stars as a way to save cash. Others are going to go all in with their championship windows still wide open.
Will the Los Angeles Lakers pull off a big move or two? Back east, the New York Knicks will be linked to a ton of big names after they end up finishing up shop on a surprising 2020-21 season.
New York Knicks looking to trade up in 2021 NBA Draft
Fresh off a surprising season, New York will likely be extremely active this summer. Most rumors have linked the team to big-name players. However, a trade up into the lottery during the 2021 NBA Draft could potentially be in the cards.
Marc Berman of the NY Post reported recently that the Knicks are looking to package their first-round picks (19th and 21st overall) and second rounders (32, 58) to move into the top-14 picks. It’s not yet known who the Knicks might target and whether a lottery team might be willing to move down. Slated to select sixth and 14th overall (lottery pending), the Golden State Warriors could make sense.
Los Angeles Lakers aim to keep Andre Drummond
Los Angeles’ addition of Drummond on the NBA buyout market coincided with continued injury issues relating to star big man Anthony Davis. The All-Star also had some success in 21 regular-season games with the Lakers — averaging 11.9 points and 10.2 rebounds. Could this lead to a return to the Lakers during free agency? Looks like Los Angeles is open to that idea.
