Even after a verbal commitment at the beginning of the year, Kyrie Irving’s future in Boston has been in doubt lately. Aside from the struggles of the team on the court, and what has been described as a lifeless scene off of it, the team’s strong pursuit of Anthony Davis has been considered a potential turn-off for Irving’s willingness to stay with the club long-term.

But, according to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, you shouldn’t hang your hat on his departure this summer.

Though Irving’s future with Boston is murky now, with LeBron teasing a reunion in Los Angeles and the Knicks angling for Durant and Irving to join forces, if Davis were acquired, league sources believe Irving would stay, which, in turn, would also help retain Davis for the long haul.
