Stephen Strasburg's impending innings limit was not going to be implemented soon enough to save the Mets. The 24-year-old Nationals ace put on a dazzling performance Wednesday that demonstrated why his team is unwilling to put his right arm at risk, striking out 11, while allowing one run, four hits and no walks over seven innings in the Nationals' 5-2 win at Citi Field. "Once the lights are on and you're going against another team, you want to go out there and make your stuff really dirty," Strasburg said after the early-afternoon start. "It took a little while to wake up, but once I get out there and got the adrenaline going, it started to click."
