Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker announced on Friday that left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez will get the nod for Game 2 of the NLDS against the Chicago Cubs while right-hander Max Scherzer will toe the rubber for Game 3. FanRag Sports own Jon Heyman reported earlier in the week that Scherzer was targeting Game 3 for his 2017 postseason debut. Gonzalez was roughed up during the club’s regular season-finale, allowing six runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings in an 11-8 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. There was a 16-game stretch spanning May to August in which the southpaw had only allowed more than three runs just once. Gonzalez polished off the regular season with 15 wins — the most since 2012 — alongside a 2.96 ERA, 1.179 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 and 6.4 WAR.
