The search for a new home for Nate Schmidt continues after the Vancouver Canucks blueliner rejected a trade to the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

The Winnipeg Sun first reported Monday evening that Schmidt had Winnipeg on his limited no-trade list and wouldn’t waive the limitation to allow for a trade to be completed between the Jets and Canucks.

It’s not the first time the Jets have tried to add Schmidt, who carries a $5.95 million cap hit for another four seasons, the Sun noted, reporting that Winnipeg had talked to the Vegas Golden Knights last fall but Schmidt had declined a trade at that time as well, before the Canucks picked him up on Thanksgiving Monday for a draft pick.
