The SEC coach of the year and SEC player of the year are both from Alabama.

Nate Oats was named the conference coach of the year Tuesday while Herbert Jones was selected as both the SEC player of the year and SEC defensive player of the year.

Oats, who led the Crimson Tide to its first SEC regular season championship since 2002, is the Tide’s first SEC coach of the year since Mark Gottfried during that 2001-02 season. Jones, meanwhile, joins former Kentucky stars Anthony Davis and Tyler Ulis as the only players in conference history to win both SEC player of the year and SEC defensive player of the year.
