Asked if he still believes in his team, Predators coach Barry Trotz said yes. “I do, but some of the same mistakes that happen, the same individuals, are a little bit frustrating because we have a lot of people out right now,” Trotz said. “When some guys aren’t going, you try to send different messages and try to do different things. As coaches, you go through the whole gamut.” The Predators (11-11-6) are without three top forwards — Colin Wilson, Patric Hornqvist and Paul Gaustad —because of injuries going into today’s game against the Oilers, and the play of the other top forwards has dropped off. Martin Erat has seen the biggest decline. His points-per-game average has dived from 0.82 a year ago to 0.48 this year. It’s his lowest clip since his second NHL season.
