Until Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson spoke to reporters late yesterday afternoon, trade deadline day had been a remarkably sleepy affair. The team traded third-line center Sammy Pahlsson for two fourth-round draft picks and a minor-leaguer and lost defenseman Grant Clitsome on waivers. Rick Nash, the captain and five-time All-Star whose availability generated a few million words in newspapers across North America, remained. The "reshaping" of a last-place hockey team that everybody was expecting looked a lot like a fat guy slurping a can of Slim Fast and spending the rest of the afternoon napping on the couch.
