Tiémoué Bakayoko started off strongly in his loan stint at Napoli, with his good performances early in the season even generating rumors about the Serie A side potentially signing the 26-year-old on a permanent deal. While there is no buy-option built into Bakayoko’s loan deal, there is supposedly an informal agreement for around €18m.

However, Bakayoko’s form appears to have taken a turn for the worse — (ed.note: certainly not a new paradigm for the inconsistent midfielder) — with his recent showings branded “disappointing” and now Napoli don’t share the same enthusiasm towards signing him now that they did earlier.
