Tottenham midfielder Nacer Chadli has revealed he turned down the chance to join Swansea on loan during the January transfer window. Chadli, who joined Spurs in the summer from FC Twente, has struggled for regular game time this season due to injuries and Tottenham’s large midfield presence. But despite being offered the chance for regular first team football at the Liberty Stadium, with the World Cup just a few months away, Chadli opted to stay in north London and fight for his place. ‘It was a possibility, but it is in the past,’ said the 25-year-old. ‘I had to make a decision and my decision was to stay. Everything was not clear so I wanted to stay at Tottenham and play for my club. I have signed for five years and I’m happy. ‘When I came to Spurs, I knew I wasn’t going to play in every game as we have 60 matches in a season.
