Nick Ward returned late to No. 11 Michigan State basketball’s bench after halftime during Sunday’s 62-44 win over Ohio State.

When he did come back to the Breslin Center court, the junior had his left hand – his shooting hand – heavily wrapped in green tape and did not start the second half. Ward eventually tried to work through the pain twice but did not play the final 13:25 of the Spartans’ comeback victory.

MSU coach Tom Izzo said he is unsure of the specificity of the injury or if it might mean Ward could miss some time for MSU, which faces Rutgers on Wednesday and travels to rival Michigan on Sunday.
