September has not been kind to Ryan Howard. Howard, still finishing off the healing process from a torn achilles, has sputtered to a .193 batting average this month, with 15 strikeouts in 57 at-bats heading into Monday's game.. The man who's supposed to be the Phillies' biggest home-run threat hadn't gone yard since Aug. 31. It's easy to blame the dip on Howard still getting used to playing every day. After missing half the season, Howard has only played in 62 games this season, and Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has said in recent weeks that he's still in spring training mode.
