David Moyes is keen for Manchester United to give Nemanja Vidic a new contract and has described his captain as the finest central defender he has coached. Vidic’s current deal which was signed in 2010 expires next summer but manager Moyes wants to keep the 31-year-old at Old Trafford for longer. The Serb who joined United from Spartak Moscow for £7 million in 2006 has made 271 appearances for the Premier League champions and Moyes believes he can carry on playing at the top level for several more years. He told British daily newspapers: “I didn't know about Vida's contract. I have not looked into it yet. I am sure the chief executive and the club will be doing that.
