Major League Baseball has changed David Ortiz's ball that originally was scored an error to a single in Yu Darvish's near no-hitter last Friday. The ball, which was hit in the air to right field and dropped between second baseman Rougned Odor and right fielder Alex Rios in the seventh inning, was called an error by official scorer Steve Weller. The play ended Darvish's perfect-game bid, but kept the Texas Rangers ace's no-hitter attempt intact. Darvish carried the no-hitter through 8 2/3 innings until Ortiz hit a single through the shift to end his bid. After the game, Weller explained his decision.
