Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim will return for the 2022 season, he announced Wednesday. The 2020 Big Ten Running Back of the Year suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in this year's season opener against Ohio State.

Before leaving due to the injury, Ibrahim ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in less than three quarters of a 45-31 loss to the Buckeyes. In just seven games in 2020, Ibrahim rushed for 1,076 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns at 5.4 yards per carry. Ibrahim’s 153.7 yards per game and 2.1 touchdowns per game ranked first among Power 5 running backs last year.
