The Minnesota Golden Gophers sit at 6-2 on the season and didn't wait to ensure head coach P.J. Fleck doesn't go anywhere.

Minnesota confirmed on Wednesday that Fleck has agreed to a new seven-year contract that runs through the 2028 campaign. The deal is pending the approval of the board of regents, which likely won't be a problem.

Fleck first joined the program in 2017 and holds an overall record of 32-21. His teams have won 24 of their last 34 games.
