Though the big league Braves had a much needed day of success in Washington against the Nationals, the franchise received some less than ideal news regarding the comeback of Mike Soroka.

Soroka is working his way back from a tear to his Achilles tendon that ended his 2020 season barely into his second start of the year. Surgery and rehab from the injury had all been ahead of schedule regarding his leg, as Soroka even pitched to a few batters in the Braves final Spring Training game.

Of course, it is certainly a positive that this set back neither concerns Soroka’s leg nor resulted in any structural damage. However, some concern centers on the fact that any shoulder discomfort involving Soroka takes on a bit more significance after his 2018 season was ended early due to shoulder discomfort and the start of his 2019 season carried the same concern. While it is far too early to speculate as to how much this may delay Soroka’s debut this season other than the reported two weeks, it is certainly logical to assume that it could be a significant amount of time before we see one of the Braves’ best young talents back on the mound.
