The Twins recalled Miguel Sano from his rehab assignment at Class AAA Rochester on Wednesday and put catcher Mitch Garver on the 10-day injured list.
Garver suffered a high ankle sprain on Tuesday night in a 4-3 victory over the Angels when Los Angeles’ Shohei Ohtani slid into him on an eighth inning play at the plate. Garver is hitting .329 with nine home runs.
Manager Rocco Baldelli said the MRI Garver had on the ankle Wednesday morning indicated the injury was not severe.
It was “best-case scenario,” said Garver, who was wearing a walking boot Wednesday. He said the pain was manageable and there was no bruising.
