Last week before a game in Chicago, Tigers ace Justin Verlander was strolling around the U.S. Cellular visitors' clubhouse proudly wearing a custom-made, blue-and-white T-shirt. It read: "Keep the MVP in The D." It caught the attention of several teammates, who inquired about it. So the reigning American League Most Valuable Player agreed to have some more made. OK, so we know exactly where the Tigers stand on Miguel Cabrera's bid to give Detroit back-to-back MVPs since Hal Newhouser won in pre-Cy Young Award 1944 and '45. But, how those around the rest of baseball? Amazingly, they're not nearly as convinced, even with Cabrera dangerously close to winning the first Triple Crown since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.
