Michigan got its 15th commitment for the Class of 2018 Friday when 4-star TE Mustapha Muhammad announced his intention to join the Wolverines. Muhammad made his announcement prior to Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point High School’s homecoming game against Fort Bend Dulles. Muhammad is the second tight end to commit to Michigan for 2018 and boosts a class that already is viewed as a solid follow-up to the past two classes, which were ranked in the top 7 nationally. The Wolverines also have a commitment from 3-star prospect Luke Schoonmaker of Hamden, Conn. Muhammad is ranked the No. 5 tight end in the country and becomes the second-highest rated player overall among the Michigan commits, behind only offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor. Those rankings are according the 247Sports composite. It doesn’t matter who has been evaluating Muhammad, there is consensus agreement that the 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect from the Houston area has the potential to be a big-time college tight end.
