Edge rusher David Ojabo, a breakout star of Michigan's defense who recorded 11 sacks in his first season as a contributor, has declared for the NFL Draft. Ojabo announced his intentions in a social media post Tuesday.
“Coach (Jim) Harbaugh took a chance on a kid who had only played the sport for a year,” Ojabo wrote. “I am eternally grateful for that opportunity.”
Ojabo was born in Nigeria, grew up in Scotland and was introduced to football at Blair Academy in New Jersey. He played a handful of snaps in his first two seasons at Michigan but became a force this year playing opposite Aidan Hutchinson as an edge rusher. Some projections have the 6-foot-5, 250-pound pass rusher going in the first round, possibly as high as the top 10.
