Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel received a five-year contract extension, the school announced Thursday.

The deal, which was approved by the University of Michigan Board of Regents, runs through June 30, 2026. Manuel’s salary will be increased to $1.1 million on March 14, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The 52-year-old Manuel earned $940,500 in 2020 after taking a voluntary 10 percent pay cut due to athletic department revenue shortfalls because of the coronavirus pandemic.
