Michael Carrick wants to sign a new contract at Manchester United and see out his playing days with the club. The former West Ham midfielder's current deal expires at the end of this season but he is hoping to extend his stay with the champions after seven years at Old Trafford. He said: “I’d love to carry on playing as long as possible at this club. “It’s a fantastic club and I’ve had great times here. “I feel good at the moment I’ve just turned 32 so I’ve got a bit of time yet” he told The Sun. The club are keen to hang on to Carrick who joined from Tottenham in 2006 in a £16m deal and are thought to be ready to offer him a new one-year deal to prevent him leaving on a free next June.
