Indians center fielder Michael Bourn had to get five stitches to repair a laceration on his right index finger, the Indians announced Sunday. The club officially said Bourn's status is day to day, but MLB.com Indians beat reporter Jordan Bastian reports Bourn is out until the stitches are removed from his finger and speculates that could be five to seven days. Bourn injured the finger on a close play at first base in the eighth inning. He ended up beating out a slow ground ball to the first baseman but slid to avoid a collision with pitcher Matt Thornton -- the only time it's acceptable to dive into first base, by the way -- and Thornton accidentally stepped on Bourn's finger. Bourn then left the game due to the laceration.
