Miami Hurricanes head football coach Mark Richt has officially been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Coach of the Year while earning 41 of a possible 59 votes. Richt is in the midst of his second year with the program following a 15-year stint with the Georgia Bulldogs. For a storied franchise looking to get back into college football contention, Richt has “The U” back on the upswing. After soaking his feet with a 9-4 season and a bowl win to boot in his first year at Miami, Richt and the Hurricanes are looking to crack the College Football Playoff for the first time under the current format. Miami, entering the regular-season finale undefeated and No. 2 in the polls, was stung by the Pitt Panthers, casting a shadow over the Hurricanes playoff hopes.
