Miami safety Avantae Williams has been readmitted to the university and will rejoin the football team after an aggravated battery case against him was dropped by the state attorney's office last week, his attorney said Thursday.
"I was informed that Miami will reinstate Avantae," Michael Etienne Jr. said in a statement to The Athletic.
Miami coach Manny Diaz said Monday that the school and team were gathering official documentation regarding the case before deciding whether to allow Williams back on the team.
Last month, Williams, 20, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, according to records. He pleaded not guilty on July 26 and was released under house arrest on a $10,000 bond with, as a condition to his bond, a restraining order against him.
