Former NBA player Metta World Peace recently claimed in a Tweet that he did not make Team USA due to his reputation:
This is awesome. Even when I asked to tryout for this team I was rejected. Mostly because of my reputation. I definitely deserved a tryout. I actually called myself and never got a return phone call . My agent gave me the message. All good. These are some tough boys. We are not sure, however, whether he’s talking about teams in the past … or if he actually tried to get on this year’s squad.
We’re just going to assume Metta World Peace is referring to when he was in his prime, because one thing is for sure: this isn’t his time anymore. This year’s Team USA squad competing in the upcoming FIBA World Cup may be depleted thanks to all the withdrawals, but there is still no way World Peace would even have a shot on this team.
Even Carmelo Anthony, the national team’s most decorated player, can’t even sniff a spot on this year’s watered-down squad.
