The Mets’ new six-man rotation designed to ensure Matt Harvey and Zack Wheeler finish the season is official and the order is as follows: Today: Dillon Gee Tomorrow: Carlos Torres Monday: Jeremy Hefner Tuesday: Zack Wheeler Wednesday: Jenrry Mejia Thursday: Matt Harvey Harvey who allowed one unearned run over eight innings against the Nationals last night will be given an extra day of rest. Mets manager Terry Collins today estimated that Harvey has about 10 starts remaining this season. Collins said he did not know how long the team will employ the expanded rotation because its fate hinges on how the team fares over the next couple weeks. "It all depends what happens here my guess in the next two to three weeks” Collins said. “If we continue to play pretty good you look up and you're five or six out we'll have to determine what our next move is." Jon Niese’s return will force the Mets to bump one of the six out of the rotation. The decision is far off but Collins repeated today that Mejia optimally isn’t a reliever because of his past elbow troubles. Collins worries pitching multiple times per week – in addition to the number of bullpen sessions – would hurt Mejia.
