The Mets have had "serious" discussions with the Indians about trading for 2B Jason Kipnis, reports Chris Cotillo of SB Nation, who says there has been "traction" between the two clubs. Of the second basemen the Mets are interested in, there has been more traction on a potential deal for Kipnis than Pirates 2B Josh Harrison, reports SNY contributor Andy Martino. The 30-year-old Kipnis hit .232/.291/.414 wiht 12 HR in 90 games in 2017 while dealing with injuries throughout the season. He dealt with a shoulder injury before the season, and landed on the disabled list twice during the season due to a hamstring injury.
