Paul Scholes believes Manchester United should attempt to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil to help solve their problems in attack.

United beat Partizan Belgrade 1-0 in Serbia on Thursday night thanks to an Anthony Martial penalty, but that was the Red Devils' only shot on target as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side failed to create one from open play.

Having been left out of Arsenal's squad for Monday night's Premier League defeat at Sheffield United, Ozil's future at the club looks increasingly uncertain after once again missing out on Unai Emery's 18-man squad for Thursday's Europa League home tie against Vitoria.

Following United's slender win, Scholes told BT Sport that Ozil could be a potential answer to Solskjaer's quest for a creative solution in attack - even if signing the 31-year-old would go against United's new transfer policy of prioritising young, British players.
