Improvement is always a noble goal. It’s good if you’re good, but it would still be better to be better. NBA teams are always looking to improve as well.

It doesn’t matter what you do. If you have any ambition, you’d like to get better at it. Meanwhile, if you’re doing something you have no desire to improve in, you should probably do something else.

Bad teams look to become good, and good teams look to become elite. At the same time, the path to improvement isn’t always linear.

Sometimes, you need to take a step backward in order to move forward. The Phoenix Suns may find themselves in that position ahead of 2022-23.

With so much conflict surrounding this team, it’s hard to say with any confidence that they’ll be together for the long haul.

If the Suns do decide to take a temporary step backward in an attempt to get their house in order, here’s a deal that has them sending Deandre Ayton to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Phoenix Suns Receive: C Steven Adams, G Tyus Jones, 2024 First-Round Pick (GSW via MEM), 2025 First-Round Pick (Swap – MEM)
