Brian McCann has felt all along he had a decent chance to return from his oblique injury when he's eligible to come off the disabled list Friday. He's starting to convince his manager Fredi Gonzalez too. McCann has swung a bat for the past two days without incident – first off a tee Friday, then against hitting coach Larry Parrish in the indoor cages Saturday. He has also caught some bullpens and played catch from 60 feet. If he continues to progress when he starts taking batting practice outside, he might be able to get back on the field early in the Braves next homestand. If the Cubs this weekend is pushing it, then perhaps the Giants in a four-game series starting Monday. "He's doing a lot more stuff than I thought he was going to be able to do this early on," Gonzalez said.
