It's been said the Chargers have many options at pick 25. Mike Mayock isn't so sure. The NFL Network draft analyst held a conference call Thursday with reporters. In the early going, he singled out one position when assessing San Diego's first-round pick. "I think they have to get a corner," Mayock said. "I think there are five corners going in the first round, and I think they're praying that one of them gets to 25. This guy, (Jason) Verrett from TCU, I think he's special. The problem is he's only 5-9. That's literally the only knock on this kid, that he's 5-9. He competes, he's tough, but he loses the jump ball to bigger receivers. "The edge draft isn't great this year. If you're looking for defensive tackle, defensive end, an edge guy, it's not real good. Dee Ford (outside linebacker from Auburn) could be still available at that point, though." While General Manager Tom Telesco said Wednesday he doesn't rank team needs, for the Chargers, cornerback arguably is at the top.
