Dallas Mavericks guard Devin Harris will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team after the tragic death of his brother Bruce on Thursday, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reports. Head coach Rick Carlisle said the veteran guard can take as long as he needs away from the team. Bruce Harris, 38, was involved in a car crash in Dallas early Thursday morning as the vehicle he was riding with a friend was struck by a 23-year-old driver. Their vehicle caught fire and despite being taken to the hospital, Harris eventually passed away due to the injuries he sustained. Devin Harris played 16 minutes in the Mavs’ season-opening loss against the Atlanta Hawks, scoring 10 points with two assists. Gian Clavell, who the Mavs signed to a two-way contract last week, has been activated to take Harris’ spot in the lineup. Clavell is an undrafted rookie guard from Colorado State.
