On Saturday, news broke that one of the top defensive tackles in the 2018 NFL Draft, Maurice Hurst, was diagnosed with a heart condition and was leaving Indianapolis for further testing in Michigan. Sunday morning, Kimberly Jones of NFL Network revealed he had an irregular EKG, and that Hurst is “optimistic” he’ll be able to participate in Michigan’s pro day on March 23. Not surprisingly, however, Hurst is feeling “a little down” right now as he deals with this rough circumstance, according to former Michigan teammate Mike McCray. “He’s a little down,” McCray told reporters Saturday, via 247Sports.com. “Of course he wants to come out here and show what he has and what he’s capable of. He’s a little down, and I talked to him a little bit just kind of gave him words of encouragement and said it was going to be alright.” McCray believes this was actually a blessing in disguise, though he certainly feels bad for his friend at the same time.
