Ole Miss has had a down season by its standards. At 4-6, the Rebels would need to beat No. 1 LSU and rival Mississippi State to play in the postseason.
The last two years, the Rebels were not able to participate in the postseason due to NCAA violations that took place under Hugh Freeze. Head coach Matt Luke went 6-6 as interim head coach in 2017 and 5-7 in 2018. Could that mean that he could possibly be on his way out?
According to Football Scoop, that won’t be the case. Luke is expected to return for his fourth season at the helm.
“...Luke’s contract would place his buyout around $6.5 million and, when combined with the contracts of offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez and defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre, would push the cost of dismissing Luke well north of $12 million,” Football Scoop writes.
