There's still a long ways to go in camp but the New Jersey Devils have already named their starting goalie for opening night and coach Peter DeBoer is sticking to his word; it will be Martin Brodeur. Before camp began DeBoer noted how he has two No. 1 (well a 1 and 1A) goalies in Brodeur and newcomer Cory Schneider but for now the job is still Brodeur's. This keeps with the theme. Naturally this is no indication that the No. 1 job will undisputedly be Brodeur's all season. Take notice of the fact that the Devils open with back-to-back games so it seems inevitable that the two games would result in split starts anyway why not go with the iconic Devil in the opener in that case? That will leave Schneider to likely get his first start in the Devils' home opener a chance to introduce himself to the fans in New Jersey. They are already plenty familiar with Marty at this point.
