There were no surprises but certainly some disappointment as the Maple Leafs cut 14 more players Tuesday from their training camp roster. There are now 37 bodies remaining competing for 23 roster spots after one week of camp. Frederik Gauthier the team’s top pick this summer was returned to the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL after getting into one exhibition game. Also returning to junior are: Ryan Rupert (London OHL) as well as defenceman Kevin Raine (Sudbury OHL). More importantly perhaps is that the Toronto Marlies with new coach Steve Spott can open camp Wednesday with players re-assigned from the Leafs. Joining the Marlies are: forwards Sam Carrick Andrew Crescenzi Jerry D’Amigo Josh Leivo Greg McKegg and Brad Ross defencemen Petter Granberg Dylan Yeo and Zachary Yuen and goaltenders Christopher Gibson and Garret Sparks.
