Manchester United have made a mistake in handing Phil Jones a new four-year deal, according to Stuart Pearce.
United announced on Friday morning that Jones has penned an extension to his current terms at Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believing Jones can play a key part for the club in years to come.
But Pearce questioned the length of the new contract given his questionable injury record and believes United will not get their money's worth from the 27-year-old.
“This season Jones has played 11 of the 25 games in the Premier League. Last season he played 23 games out of 38, and the season before he played 18 of 38," he said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT.
“These percentages are around half or less than half of Man United’s games.
