Manchester United have cooled their interest in Ivan Rakitic after becoming increasingly confident that Paul Pogba’s long-term future is at Old Trafford.

Red Devils chiefs had been pursuing the Croatia international in recent times, with concerns growing over Pogba’s future.

Rakitic has always maintained he wants to stay with Barcelona but United have now accepted they won’t sign the 31-year-old as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to build his side around Pogba, according to the Evening Standard.

The France international has been in sensational form since Solskjaer’s return to Old Trafford and has put on hold plans to leave the club.
