Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has been offered the chance to re-join his former club Racing Club de Avellaneda by their president Victor Blanco but the 33-year-old will need to take a major pay cut.

Romero has been left out of United's Premier League and Champions League squads this season, with David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant preferred.

He was linked with a deadline day move to Everton but the deal fell through.
