Magnus Eriksson is officially headed back to Sweden, after weeks of reports in his native country indicated he could be leaving the San Jose Earthquakes for his former club, Djurgardens IF. The two clubs formally announced the deal on Friday, with the Earthquakes receiving an undisclosed transfer fee.
“When Magnus arrived from Djurgardens in 2018, he had left a lasting impression in Sweden,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli in a team statement. “After two and a half years with us, we feel he has done the same as he now returns home to be closer to his family. As we look back, we realize we learned a lot about ourselves during his time with the club.
