Rookie forward Jonathan Isaac will play in his first NBA game since Dec. 26 when the Orlando Magic host the Detroit Pistons tonight at Amway Center. Magic coach Frank Vogel said he expects to play Isaac around 15 minutes, with Isaac likely entering the game late in the first and third quarters, when some timeouts will allow Isaac to get some intermittent rest. Asked what he hopes to see from Isaac, Vogel answered, “Same thing we’ve been saying: work hard on the defensive end to follow [his] assignments, use his defensive talent to impact the game. And, obviously, we’re not going to ask too much of him on the offensive end. We want him to be aggressive, knock down open shots and make simple plays off the bounce and let the game come to him.” Isaac sprained his right ankle on Nov. 11. Although he played in three games in December, he twice aggravated the injury, prompting Magic officials to hold him out of action indefinitely so his ankle could heal.
