The guy who said he’s always biting his nails on cut-down day had no reason to sweat out whether he made the Dolphins’ roster.

Receiver Mack Hollins, it turns out, is more entrenched in aqua and orange than even he realized.

When Dolphins coach Brian Flores announced the 2021 team captains Wednesday, Hollins’ name jumped out as the only player on offense or defense who isn’t a starter, but is still recognized by teammates for leadership qualities worthy of wearing a ‘C’ on his jersey.

How does a player reach that level when, less than two years ago, he was out on the street, waived by Philadelphia? Hollins offered insight into the process, saying he volunteered for the role after serving as a captain all four years at North Carolina.
