Luke Murray, who coached with Dan Hurley at Wagner and Rhode Island, is joining his staff at UConn as assistant coach, the school announced Monday.

Murray’s hiring is pending the completion of the university’s employee onboarding process.

“Luke has a high level of experience as a coach and as a recruiter,” Hurley said in a statement released by UConn. “He is someone I have a lot of confidence in because of the familiarity I have had with him at two other programs.”

Murray, who had been coaching at Louisville before leaving March 18, replaces Kevin Freeman, who stepped down after one season on Hurley’s staff.
