Ryan Ludwick had a good spring last year but a rough April and May. He’s hoping the opposite is true this year. Ludwick went into Friday night’s game hitting .196 with a home run and five RBI in 56 spring at-bats. “I’m not too worried about it,” Ludwick said. “I’m kind of a streaky hitter at times. Hopefully, I catch a hot streak to begin with. Last year, it was a cold streak. Like I tell people: When you’ve been around the league for a while, if you look on the back of their baseball card, you’ll see what you’re going to get.” Ludwick, 34, did end up with his bubblegum card stats. He finished the year with a .275 average, 26 home runs and 80 RBI. It was a good bounce-back year after struggling in 2010 and ’11.
Ludwick: Stats aside, the team comes first
