Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is set to step up his interest in West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long before the transfer window shuts. Rodgers will have money to spend if striker Luis Suarez leaves Anfield. But Albion are likely to want £10 million for Long who has still to agree a contract extension at The Hawthorns. Baggies boss Steve Clarke will not want to lose Long to Liverpool where the Scot was assistant manager with Kenny Dalglish. But Long is stalling on a new deal and Rodgers is ready to move in if there is any sign the Irishman could leave. Long signed for Albion in a £4m deal from Reading two years ago.
